Driver’s License Changes

If you recently renewed or replaced your Florida driver license, your license number may have changed. If that happened, we encourage you to contact the Lafayette County Supervisor of Elections Office to verify that your voter record contains your current information.

Unless you specifically chose to update your voter registration during your driver license transaction, your new license number may not have been automatically sent to our office. We use this information as part of the voter verification process and to help maintain accurate records.

Important: A change in your driver license number will not prevent you from voting. However, outdated information could create issues with certain services, such as requesting a Vote-by-Mail ballot online or signing petitions. Call us at (386)-294-1261 or go to our voter’s registration application online to ensure your record is up to date.

We are always here to help keep your voter information accurate and up to date!

Background

In 2022, Florida adopted a law requiring newly issued or renewed driver licenses to use randomized identification numbers as an added measure to help reduce fraud and identity theft. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles began implementing this change on July 31, 2024.
